A Hezbollah fighter was killed and two civilians were injured on Sunday in Israeli airstrikes on the village of Kafr Kila in southeastern Lebanon, Lebanese military sources said.
The sources, who spoke anonymously, said that Israel carried out eight airstrikes on six border towns and villages in southern Lebanon and fired 45 shells on 10 towns and villages in the south in the evening, destroying 12 houses and damaging 35 others.
Meanwhile, Hezbollah said its fighters attacked several Israeli sites near the Lebanon-Israel border.
The military sources also confirmed the launch of about 25 surface-to-surface missiles from Lebanon toward northern Israel, some of which were intercepted.
Tensions along the Lebanon-Israel border escalated on Oct. 8, 2023, following a barrage of rockets launched by the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah toward Israel in solidarity with Hamas' attack on Israel the day before. Israel then retaliated by firing heavy artillery toward southeastern Lebanon.
The confrontations between Hezbollah and Israel have killed 413 people on the Lebanese side, including 261 Hezbollah members and 74 civilians, according to Lebanese security sources.
